COLUMBUS — Marshall Thundering Herd senior golfer Nathan Kerns is tied for No. 32 after the first round of the NCAA regional tournament at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course.
Kerns shot a 4-over 75 and is tied with 13 others in the 74-man field of individual golfers.
The top finisher at each of the six regionals qualifies for the national championship.
Kerns had a 1-over 36 on the front nine. He began with two bogeys but followed with two birdies.
The former Ironton All-Ohio golfer had a 3-over 38 on the back nine.
Raoul Menard of Charlotte was the leader with a 4-under 67. Carl Johnosn of UNLV and Will Starke of South Carolina were second at 68.
