ODOT road work detailed for summer

The following road projects are now under way by the Ohio Department of Transportation:
• County Road 22, (Little Storms Creek Road/Lawrence Street) is closed at Ironton and its underpass with U.S. 52 for a bridge replacement project. While the route is closed, traffic will be detoured via State Route and County Road 21 (Porter Gap Road). The project is anticipated to be completed by late summer.
• State Route 141 is now open to two-way traffic following a slip repair project between Symmes Creek and Marion-Brushy Fork roads. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-summer 2013.
• On Monday, July 8: State Route 141 will be closed at the 16.46-mile marker for a slip repair project. The project site is located immediately north of the route’s junction with S.R. 775 at Wilgus, and throughout construction, traffic will be detoured via S.R. 775 in Gallia County; a local detour will also be established.
• State Route 243 is now open to two-way traffic at the 16.00-mile marker following a slip repair project. The project site is located between Fitzpatrick Road and Eaton Road. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.
• State Route 243 is reduced to one, 9-foot lane at the 15.00-mile marker for a slip repair project. The project site is situated between County Road 36 (McKinney Creek Road) and Township Road 1178 (Hamlin Road), approximately 3.4 miles west of State Route 7. Traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic signals. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer 2013.
• State Route 522 is now open to two-way traffic at the 5.30-mile marker following a slip repair project between S. Buckhorn-Superior Road and Little Pine Creek Road. Crews have minor finishing work to complete; however, traffic will be maintained by flaggers when crews are at work.
• A slip repair project is under way at the 3.5-mile marker on State Route 650. The project site is located between Tunnel Ridge and Pine Grove-Smokey Hollow roads. Traffic will be maintained in one, 9-foot lane with the use of temporary traffic signals.
• State Route 650 is reduced to one, 9-foot lane at the 6.40-mile marker for a slip repair project. The project site is situated just south of County Road 43 (Kelly’s Mill Road), between the route’s junction with State Route 522 and the village of Hanging Rock. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained with the use of temporary traffic signals.
• Construction for the Ironton-Russell Bridge replacement is under way, with work being conducted off affected roadways. As part of this project, portions of Second Street in Ironton are closed for pavement, retaining wall and sidewalk construction. In addition to localized closures affecting downtown traffic, motorists are advised of equipment entering and exiting the work zone in Ironton and at the U.S. 23 viaduct in Kentucky.
• The 12th Street/Ben Williamson Bridge from U.S. 52 at Coal Grove to U.S. 23/60 in Ashland, Ky., is closed due to structural damage at the approach incurred as the result of a crash. Two-way traffic is being routed via the 13th Street (Simeon Willis) Bridge, in which the bridge is open to one southbound lane and two northbound lanes. As part of the 12th Street Bridge closure, other traffic restrictions are in place on U.S. 52 in Ohio and U.S. 23 (Winchester Avenue) in Ashland. Motorists are advised to use additional caution, paying heed to restrictions, and to expect periods of delay.
