Mary Stringer
March 7, 1941 – June 10, 2013
Mary Elizebeth Betsey Stringer, 72, of Ashland, Ky., wife and beloved soul mate of Bobby Joe Stringer, died peacefully Monday afternoon, June 10, 2013, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland following an extended illness.
Betsey was born March 7, 1941, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Emerson and Virginia Layne Hunt. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg, where she loved her church family, enjoyed the fellowship of others and was always willing to help in any way with any project the church under went.
She is also survived by two daughters, Debbie Garred of South Point and Donna Hamilton of Ashland; three stepdaughters, Renée Stringer Cheek of Mandeville, La., Lorna Stringer Gildig of Abita Springs, La., and Janda Stringer Cefalu of Destrehan, La.; a stepson, Robert Dale Stringer of Louisville; her brother, John Layne of Ironton; three half-brothers, Phillip Layne, Larry Hunt and Kenny Hunt, all of Columbus; her half-sister, Janette Hunt of Columbus; her aunt, Peggy Cook of Coal Grove; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
It was her wish to announce her new address is now “Heaven,” and her desire was for her family and friends to come be with her.
The funeral was June 13, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg by Pastor Stan Williams. Interment was in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County.
Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland was in charge of arrangements. Donations may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Cannonsburg Building Fund.
Katherine Ross
May 31, 1932-June 15, 2013
Katherine Marie Ross, 81, of Ironton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, W.Va. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. She was born May 31, 1932, in Ironton, a daughter of the late Joe Lewis Sr. and Mary Louise Clark Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett W. Ross Sr.; sisters, Pauline Adkins, Edna Dement and brother, Joe Lewis, all of Ironton. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Maurice Clark of Russell, Ky.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lester Alan and Brenda Ross of Ironton, and Everett and Sue Ross of Milton; two sisters, Mary Littlejohn of Shelby, N.C. and Alfreda Kyle of Cincinnati; two brothers, Ralph Lewis of Wyandotte, Okla., and Jim Lewis of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Vivian Dilley

Vivian Faye Dilley, 77, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at home. She was born Jan. 13, 1936, in Beckley, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ina Wright, Douglas Hurley and step-father Lowell Wright; one brother Rex Hurley; and one grandson Ian Conley.
She is survived by her husband Carl Dilley; children, Debra (Michael) Conley of Huntington, W.Va., Pamela Goldcamp of South Point and Carlynn (James) Cobb of Gettysburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Crystal (Andy) Germann of West Liberty Township, Dawn McCallister of South Point, Tim (Salina) Conley of Clarksville, Tenn., Erin Ratliff of Gettysburg, Pa., Carmyn Whitt of Ironton, and Gaige Whitt of Norfolk, Va.; 12 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllis (Ralph) Carrico of Ironton, and Virginia (Jerry) Pendleton of Kitts Hill. She was a member of Ironton Chapter Eastern Star OES #437, Eastern Star Arema Club, Past Matrons, Past Grand Ruth for State of Ohio, and Past Deputy Grand Matron for District 24. She was a member and treasurer for the Symmes Valley Alumni Association.
Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, by Pastor Mark Conner. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. Clarice Newman
April 16, 1944-June 16, 2013
Clarice Eileen Barnhart Newman, 69, of Coal Grove, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 16, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY. Clarice was born April 16, 1944 in Pedro, the daughter of the late Stanley and Lennie Stapleton Barnhart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John “J D” Newman on Jan. 14, 2011 (whom she married July 10, 2008).
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne Summers and Barbara Carmon; and an infant brother, Stanley Barnhart, Jr. Clarice is survived by two sisters, Helen (Kenneth) Morrison of Coal Grove, and Mary Donley of Waterloo; a special nephew, Kenny Morrison of Coal Grove; a niece, Mary Wetzel of Ironton who helped care for Clarice; and a host of special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with the Rev. Dale Knipp officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Robin Huff
A memorial service for Robin Huff will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Greater Faith Apostolic Church on Sixth and Spruce streets. Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. She was the wife of Steve Huff, who survives.
