Dennis Conley

June 21, 1943- July 8, 2013

Dennis Jay Conley, 70 of South Webster, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley with his family at his side.

He was born June 21, 1943, a son of the late Pearl Collins Conley and the late Aurthur Conley.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Geraldine Gullett Conley at home; three sons, Charles (Teresa) Conley, Steven Conley and Brandon Conley; five daughters, Angela Hill Glenn, Maria (James) Conley, Artisha (Brian) Breedlove, Rosana (Aaron Stiltner) Conley and Amber (James) Gilliland; a sister, Judy (Don) Williams; a special granddaughter, Madisen Conley; 17 grandchildren; a niece, Trella Williams and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday in the Chapel of the Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kenny Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in the Vernon Furnace Cemetery on State Route 93. Friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral chapel. Janet Sloan

July 18, 1939-July 7, 2013

Janet Sue Sloan, 73, of South Webster, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus. The Lawrence County native was born July 18, 1939, the daughter of the late John H. and Mary Lester Hardy.

Ms. Sloan was a 1959 graduate of Ironton High School and received her nursing degree from St. Mary’s Huntington Nursing School. She was a former nurse for the Westminster Thurber Nursing Home in Columbus and attended the Lockdale Church of God in South Point.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Roberts; and two stepdaughters, Kimberly Sloan and Linda Sloan.

She is survived by daughter, Felecia A. and Shawn Lake of Huntington, W.Va.; son, Kenneth Sloan of South Webster; son, James and Connie Sloan of South Webster; daughter, Mary and John Brannen of Jasper, Ga.; stepdaughter, Robin Sloan of Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Reginalt Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens and visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
