Jones family enjoys success; Christian records hole-in-one

PINE GROVE — It was a good week for the Jones family.

Johnna Jones joined Joyce Lewis and two-event winner Pat Riggs as the daily winners at the Ladies Nine Hole League’s regular weekly golf outing last Tuesday, and her son Greg Jones recently won the Ironton Country Club Senior golf championship.

The Ladies Nine Hole League met last week with Lewis serving as the hostess and providing the refreshment.

During the weekly business meeting, Riggs announced the upcoming potluck and tournament for the end of the season.

The tournament will be held Oct. 8 with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament is for Ladies Nine Hole League members and their guests. In order to have golfing partner, participants must bring their partner with them on the day of the tournament.

The ladies Nine Hole League will continue to meet at 9 a.m. on Tuesday with a brief business meeting followed by golfing events at 9:30. Members are reminded to watch for any starting time alterations due to changes in the weather.

Bud Christian recorded a hole-in-one on Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Ironton Country Club.

Christian got his ace on the No. 11 hole. The feat was witnessed by Rick Hannon, Tom Isaac, Dave Spears and Chuck Davis.
