Prestigious journal to publish paper from SSU students

PORTSMOUTH — The American Journal of Occupational Therapy has accepted a paper by Shawnee State University students who were in the master of occupational therapy program. The paper was presented to the journal before they graduated in 2012.

The journal is the premier journal in the profession of occupational therapy and considered the most prestigious in the field.

The editor of the journal has suggested that the paper will make a substantial contribution to the literature in the field of occupational therapy.

Andrew Pearl OTR, Alex Brennan OTR, Kayla Lauer-Antill OTR and Tiffany Journey OTR under the guidance of faculty James J. McPherson OTR, FAOTA, researched and wrote the paper titled, “Content Analysis of Five Occupational Therapy Journals from 2006 through 2010: Further review of characteristics of the quantitative literature.”

“It usually takes about a year from the date of acceptance until publication,” McPherson said.

A second paper based on the students’ research is currently being prepared.
