The late William Large was a famous muzzleloader, which is firearm into which the projectile and usually the propellant charge are loaded from the muzzle of the gun.

Large’s legacy lives on in several ways, whether it’s the Large Barrel used in muzzle loading that bears his name or the William Large Muzzle Loading Shoot at the 4J Ranch and Shooting Range in Deering.

“If we have 10 shooters, that’s a good shoot,” Jeanette McKenzie, Large’s daughter, said. “People come from all over the place to shoot in this match.”

McKenzie said John Langley organizes the event and there will be matches and money prizes awarded.

The event starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
