Tom Ackison

Paul Thomas “Tom” Ackison, 75, of Pedro, passed away Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Pedro native was born Jan. 8, 1938, the son of the late Joseph Henry and Wilma Mae Bailey Ackison. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Everly “Kay” Adams Ackison.

Tom was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a former maintenance worker for the Briggs Library, a former employee at the Semet Solvay and a paper carrier for the Ironton Tribune for 29 years. He attended the Lawrence Furnace Methodist Church in Pedro, and was an avid sports fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Scior; and a sister, Catherene Shaw.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Bill (Kim) Ackison of Ashville; a daughter, Molly (Jerry) Jenkins of Pedro; three brothers, Donald Scior of Ironton, Ralph Ackison of Kokomo, Ind. and Kenneth Ackison of Ironton; a sister, Freda Ackison of Pedro; two granddaughters, Emily Ackison and Rachel Ackison; several nieces, nephews; and many friends

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Carter officiating. David Brammer

David E. Brammer, 73, of Marion, formerly of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at Presidential Center Genesis Healthcare in Marion.

He was born Nov. 28, 1939, in Marion to the late Mealie R. and Ruth M. (Crabtree) Brammer.

David was employed at Bennett Chevrolet and Probst Supply in Marion.

He is survived by his brother, Jim (Helen) Brammer of Marion;, his sister, Freidbell Pancake of Waterloo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Carl, Sherman, Bert and Marion Brammer; and four sisters, Nellie Schotte, Mildred Schotte, Ora Mosbarger and Rose Gier.

Jerry Gollihugh, 84, of Ironton, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at his residence. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home in Ironton.

Nancy Moore, 72, of Marion, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, in Marion. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home in Ironton.

 

 

Lois Burcham

Lois Judy Ellis Burcham, 78, of Proctorville, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at home. She was the wife of Leon Kenneth Burcham, who survives.

 

 

Wayne Saunders

Wayne Rayburn Saunders, 89, of Milton, W.Va., died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home.

 

 

Kirby Rulen

Kirby Shayne Rulen, 44, of Wayne, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
