An Ironton couple pleaded not guilty to felony drug charges in Ironton Municipal Court on Monday.
Terry Lee Gannon, 40, and Cindy Gannon, 34, of 480 County Road 7C, Ironton, were arraigned before Ironton Municipal Court Judge O. Clark Collins following their arrest on Friday. Terry Gannon was charged with trafficking in drugs, a third degree felony, and Cindy Gannon is facing a fifth degree felony drug possession charge.
In the early morning hours on Friday officers from the Lawrence Drug and Major Crimes Task Force and the sheriff’s office executed a search warrant for the Gannons’ address.
Five times over the past 30 days the task force allegedly bought oxycodone from Terry Gannon, according to a release from Prosecuting Attorney Brigham Anderson. Through those purchases law enforcement said they determined that Gannon was allegedly traveling to Detroit, Mich., to buy oxycodone and then bringing it back to Lawrence County to sell.
“(Oxycodone) is still a huge problem,” Anderson said. “The supply has dried up recently which has led to an increase in heroin. There is still oxycodone. This is a result of an undercover investigation over past one to two months that led to the search warrant.”
Collins set bond for Terry Gannon at $50,000 and $10,000 for his wife. Warren Morford will represent Terry Gannon and Roger Smith was assigned to Cindy Gannon.
Both will appear for a second time in municipal court on Thursday.
