For more than a decade, the Ironton Area Kiwanis Club’s Breakfast with Santa has been tops among its fundraising events.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon, children can get a picture with Santa Claus at the pancake breakfast in the old AEP building on Third Street in Ironton.

Kiwanis member Steve Call said with the various local projects in which the club is involved, Breakfast with Santa is very important to the Ironton area.

“We have three main local programs,” Call said. “One is the scholarship we provide to a Lawrence County high school senior, another is the diapers we buy and give to the health department and the other is our hygiene kits.”

Call said the aforementioned are just the programs Kiwanis does routinely; it does not include other projects that tend to come up throughout the year.

“Kiwanis is an international organization. It’s global,” he said. “But the focus of our Kiwanis Club is local. Any money we raise will be spent on the needy people in our area. People here have needs and we believe in taking care of our own.”

A $5 donation includes pancakes, bacon, sausage, coffee, tea and milk. Children under 2 years old eat free.
