Businesses are being urged to “Make Ironton Glisten This Christmas” and the top vote-getter will win $100 in cash and be named “Holiday Business of the Month.”

The contest is in its second year and organizer and Ironton In Bloom chair Jan Wolfe anticipates a lot of votes being submitted for the different participating businesses.

“There were nearly 500 votes cast last year,” Wolfe said. “Every business that decorated its storefront last year received several votes.”

A New You Salon and Spa was last year’s winner and although Wolfe said she hasn’t received many votes yet this year she thinks the pace will soon pick up considerably.

“Many businesses haven’t even started decorating their storefronts yet,” she said. “After Thanksgiving when the decoration picks up so will the submitted votes.”

A New You Salon and Spa co-owner Rachel Russell said her shop’s window display is already up and running.

“Our storefront’s decoration is finished,” she said. “We have candy land on one side and a winter theme with a snowman and a lantern on the other.”

All businesses within the City of Ironton are eligible for the contest.

Ballots are available in The Tribune and can be dropped off in the gift-wrapped Ironton In Bloom ballot box in the City Center. Deadline for votes is Monday, Dec. 9, and the winner will be announced on Saturday, Dec. 14. Votes can also be mailed to P.O. Box 4599, Ironton, OH 45638 or emailed to irontoninbloom@gmail.com.
