PROCTORVILLE — Once the Fairland Lady Dragons got going, they didn’t stop.

The Lady Dragons opened the season slowly but got rolling in the second quarter and went on to rout the Gallipolis Blue Angels 75-44 in the Ernie Hall Classic.

“We played well, but we played spurty,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan. “From the middle of the first quarter on, we played pretty well.”

Terra Stapleton had 22 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocked shots to lead the Lady Dragons.

Taylor Perry had 12 points, Kelsey Riley had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, and Chandler Fulks grabbed 6 rebounds in the winning effort.

Micah Curfman scored 11 points to lead Gallipolis (1-1).

Perry scored 7 points and Stapleton and Kelsey Riley had 6 points each in the first quarter as Fairland opened up a 24-10 lead.

The Lady Dragons outscored Gallipolis 19-13 in the second quarter as Stapleton poured in 10 points and it was 43-23 at the break.

Stapleton had 6 more points in limited time to start the third quarter as Fairland extended its lead to as much as 32 points.

Buchanan began to empty the bench and the Lady Dragons still outscored Gallipolis 24-8 to build a 67-31 cushion.

“We tried to guard hard the whole game,” said Buchanan. “The kids off the bench made good contributions. I was happy about that.”

Fairland plays at Ironton Monday at 7:15 p.m. There will be a two-quarter jayvee game.
