Lady Panthers claim holiday tourney title

CHESAPEAKE — A double-double helped the Chesapeake Lady Panthers get double wins.

After beating Wayne in the semifinals on Wednesday, Chesapeake used a double-double by Kaylee Curry to beat the Lincoln County Lady Wildcats to win the Lady Peake Holiday Tournament.

Curry had 18 points and 16 rebounds to lead Chesapeake (5-2). Atiya Spaulding scored 14 points and Jordan Porter added 10 points in the win.

Lindsey Prichard scored 14 for Lincoln County (2-4).

Curry scored 6 points in the first quarter as Chesapeake took an 11-7 lead.

Chesapeake stretched the lead to 26-16 at the half.

Spaulding got 5 points in the third quarter as the Lady Panthers opened up a 41-23 lead.

Spaulding hit 5-of-6 from the line in the fourth quarter.

In the consolation game, Elliott County beat Wayne 43-27 as Samantha Worthington scored 16 and Brittany Worthington 12. Taylor Bartram scored 13 points for Wayne.
