Larry Scott

Larry E. Scott, 60, of Ironton, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013. Mr. Scott was born March 9, 1953, in Indiantown Gap, Pa., the son of Marie Spears Scott of Ironton and the late Roscoe Scott. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Morris Scott who passed away July 24, 2010.

Mr. Scott was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. He was the clerk and deacon of Campbell Chapel Church. Mr. Scott was a member of the Upper Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was retired from Sam’s Club in South Point and was the former manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Ironton. Larry was a people person and loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling and his church family.

In addition to his wife and father, he is preceded in death by father-in-law, David Morris; and mother-in-law, Wanda Morris.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, J.D. and Cindy Scott and Joshua and Jessica Scott, all of Ironton; two brothers, Les and Teresa Scott and Jeff and Sheila Scott; granddaughter, Katie Scott; grandson, Jase Scott; his Prayer Buddy, Jay McKenzie; and two very special cousins, Vicki and Scott Adkins

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Bradley and the Rev. Todd Bevins officiating. Burial will follow in Ice Creek Cemetery and visitation will be Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Music for the service will be provided by the Campbell Chapel Church Youth Group.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Bevins and Dale Dixon and pallbearers will be Jason Hunt, Todd Bevins, Tim Hackworth, Trevor McCormick, Jay McKenzie, Larry Justice, Dustin Humphrey and Gary Nelson. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.tracybrammerfh.com.

 

 

Charles Whitt

Charles C. Whitt 77 of Franklin Furnace, died Wednesday Dec. 24, 2013, at The Sanctuary at Ohio Valley in Ironton. He was born Dec. 29, 1935, in Elliott County, Ky., a son of the late Charles Edward Whitt and Lucy Carroll Whitt.

He is survived by two daughters, Georgian Whitt Hughes of Ironton, and Kathy Whitt Sanders of Flatwoods, Ky.; one son, Harold Edward (Ed) Whitt of Franklin Furnace; five grandchildren, Linda Hughes, Matt Sanders, Chris Sanders, Alex Whitt and Mary Charles Whitt; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Morton Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky.

 

Bonnie Sexton

Bonnie Sexton, 96 of South Point, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Reger Funeral Chapel in Huntington and burial will follow in the Foster Whispering Pine Cemetery, Cabell County, W.Va.

Bonnie was born June 13, 1917, in Wayne County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Stafford Foster. She was the owner/operator of the BonTon Restaurant. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husbands, William Tommy Johnson, Jay Carter, and William Sexton and also by her oldest beloved granddaughter, Bonnie Hendershot in 2004 and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law Johnny W. and Francoise Johnson, of Gallipolis; five grandchildren and their spouses: Jesse L. Johnson, Matthew W. (Sue) Johnson, Roseanne Johnson, Paul D. (Shonda) Johnson, John B. (Jocey) Johnson, and stepgranddaughter, Leora (Edwin) Bock. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and one sister, Vivian Hibsman of Jackson.

Bonnie was a member of the Nazarene Church at South Point, and a former employee of the Sylvania Corporation. She was widely traveled in the United States and loved to drive. She never knew a stranger and loved children and loved to help others. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother and mother, as well as a devoted sister to her nine siblings.

Alice Fischer

Alice Faye Hutchison Ellis Fischer, 65, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Jo-Lin Health Center, Ironton.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, by Pastor Cullen Chesser. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Helen Large

Helen Winona Large, 91, of Proctorville, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.
