COAL GROVE — It was Miller Time.

Hannah Miller, that is.

The St. Joseph Female Flyers needed a tall drink of Hannah Miller who scored 25 points to help rally in the second half and beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 62-46 Saturday.

“We didn’t play well defensively in the first half. We adjusted at halftime and it caught them off-guard and threw them off in the third quarter and we were able to get the lead,” said Female Flyers’ coach Nick Miller.

“The game was closer than the final score. Both teams played really hard.”

Besides Hannah Miller, Amber Neal scored 15 points and Lynsey Booker had 12 points to lead the Female Flyers (8-1).

Jacy Jones scored 19 points and Leah Crum had 11 points for Coal Grove (4-6).

Jones got 6 points and Morgan Sites 4 points as Coal Grove took a 14-11 lead in the first quarter. Booker had 7 points to keep St. Joseph close.

Jones hit two 3-pointers and scored 8 points while Hannah Miller got 12 points for the Female Flyers as Coal Grove took a 27-26 halftime edge.

Miller scored 6 points and Neal 5 as St. Joseph rallied to take a 41-34 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Crum scored 5 of Coal Grove’s 7 points.

The Lady Hornets were forced to foul in the fourth quarter and the Female Flyers converted 16-of-20 free throw attempts. Neal scored 7 points including 5-6 at the line, Miller was 5-of-6 as well and Bri Bridges made 4-of-4 attempts.

Crum and Jones combined for 11 of the Lady Hornets’ 12 points.
