NEW BOSTON — The St. Joseph Flyers enjoyed their week of vacation over the holidays, and they enjoyed an easy win when they went back to work.

The Flyers jumped on New Boston early and never looked back in a 67-32 win over the Tigers Saturday night.

“We took care of business. We’ve been off for a week and I wasn’t sure how we would respond,” said Flyers’ coach Jeremy Williams.

“I was happy with our execution and how we played defense. We came out ready to play.”

Troy Scott proved to be ready. The Flyers’ junior forward had 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals as the Flyers improved to 6-5.

Ben McDonald scored 10 points off the bench, Chris Lewis had 10 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 blocked shots, and Joseph Payton handed out 5 assists.

Scott scored 14 points in the first quarter as the Flyers raced to a 23-9 lead.

Hunter Pemberton had all 8 of his points in the second quarter and Scott scored 6 more as St. Joseph built a 41-16 halftime cushion.

Scott got 7 points in the third quarter and the defense held New Boston to only 3 points and it was 57-19.

McDonald scored 5 points and Judge Williams had 4 for the Flyers in the fourth quarter.

St. Joseph hosts Raceland on Tuesday.
