Carol Salyers

Carol Regina Salyers, 65, died on Friday Jan. 3, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital. The Lawrence County native was born on April 19, 1948, the daughter of the late Wilson and Willa Lee Mullins Fout. She worked as a waitress at the VFW Post 8850 for 30 years and a was a life member. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by two children, Kimberly Dawn Salyers and George Shawn Salyers; five sisters, Evelyn Truitt, Pauline Thompson, Beulah Mae Prince, Linda Sue Hieronimus and Beverly Simpson. Survivors include two daughters, Misty (Shawn) Wilson and Angela Lyne Callicoat; one son, Eric (Chrystal) Spurlock, all of Coal Grove; grandchildren Wyatt Eric Wilson, Noah Walker Wilson, Courtney Nichole Wilson and Shaylee Marie Callicoat; and three brothers, Gene Fout, Jeff Fout and Robin Fout.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home with 12:30 p.m. graveside services in Hecla Cemetery with Mike Triplet officiating. Contributions can be made to the funeral home to help the family with funeral expenses.

 

 

Kenneth Willis

Kenneth Edward Willis, 74, of South Point, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton.

Kenneth was born May 7, 1939, in Washington Court House, a son of the late Joseph C. and Geneva Carrico Willis. Kenneth was a retired insurance salesman and a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles E. Willis; and his stepfather, Charles “Pete” Sparling.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Lillian Fern Bluebaum Willis; two daughters, Cindy Jefferson and Traci Adkins; four grandchildren, Andrew Travis, Joshua Adkins, Ryan Travis and Rachael Travis; and two great-grandchildren, A.J. Travis and Chelsea Baird.

Buford Carl Profitt

Buford went to be with the Lord on Jan. 4, 2014. He was born in Ashland, Ky., on Sept. 28, 1942, to the late Carl and Bessie Profitt. He resided in Deering and was a member of the Thirteenth Street Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by one son, Brent Carl Profitt. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Judy Profitt; a son, Brad (Julie) Profitt; two daughters, Melissa Lafon, Jennifer (Gary) Reed; five grandchildren, Trey Profitt, Peyton Profitt, Zachery Abrams, Jessica Abrams and Olivia Minton; one sister, Billie Valentine; and a nephew, Buddy Valentine.

Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Bill Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Ashland Cemetery and visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

Margaret Smith

Margaret Smith, 83, of Proctorville, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville by  pastor Harold Hamlin. Marjorie Williams

Marjorie “Margie” Rice Williams, 88, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Williams. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with the Rev. Don Young officiating and the Rev. Mark Wilson assisting. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods. Visitation for friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home on Wednesday.
