LATHAM — The temperatures might be starting to thaw out, but the St. Joseph Female Flyers were shooting sub-zero.

Hannah Miller and Amber Neal combined for 39 of the points for the Female Flyers (9-4). Miller scored 23 points and Neal had 16.

The Female Flyers played without starter Lynsey Booker — the team’s third leading scorer — who was out with an injury.

Brewster, Williams Woods four each in the first quarter.

Miller had nine points in the second and Molly Miller added a basket and the Female Flyers were down 26-15 at the break.

Neal scored 13 points in the third quarter and the defense limited Western to six points and St. Joseph got within 32-30.

Miller got eight more points and the Female Flyers took a two-point lead with less than two minutes to play, but C.C. Shanks scored all eight of her points in the quarter and the Lady Indians were able to hold on for the win.
