SOUTH POINT — Brianna Bacon condensed all her work into one quarter.

And what a quarter it was.

Bacon scored 17 of her 23 points in the second quarter and ignited the South Point Lady Pointers to a 60-40 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redwomen Thursday.

“The second quarter was the difference,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Dave Adams. “We went with a smaller lineup and started pressing and Bacon was on fire.”

The game started slowly. Haley Rawlins scored six of her eight points in the first quarter as South Point went up 7-2.

In the second quarter, Bacon hit three triples in her 17–point total as South Point erupted for 22 points to take a 29-13 lead at the half.

Rock Hill hit three 3-pointers in the third quarter but Lakin Adams and Abbey Winkler scored four points each and the Lady Pointers led 43-27.

Winkler scored nine points for the Lady Pointers (11-2, 4-1).

Olivia Abner scored all seven of her points in the fourth quarter as South Point outscored the Redwomen 17-13.

Kasey Russell had 15 points to lead Rock Hill (3-10, 1-5).

On Saturday, South Point hosts Greenup County, Ky., and Rock Hill visits Portsmouth Clay.
