Jean grew up in Coal Grove and attended Dawson-Bryant High School.  After high school Jean married her only love, Charles C. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Jean enjoyed working as a waitress at Don Keys Restaurant for 12 years.  Later, Jean was a member of the Ironton Eagles Ladies Auxiliary 895 and an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8850.  Her exceptional cooking and baking skills brought joy to family and friends.  Jean was a champion shuffleboard player, loved to fish, an epic card player and favorite corn hole partner to her grandchildren.

Jean’s greatest passion in life was dancing. She danced every weekend at the senior citizen centers of Flatwoods and Greenup, Ky., and was always the life of the party. She got dressed up to go dancing, as she did every Friday night. She was ready a bit early so she grabbed a cookie and sat in her favorite chair. She closed her eyes for the last time.

Jean loved life, stayed strong and active to the end, and left with grace; a remarkable woman who motivated and inspired all who knew her, she will be profoundly missed by her daughters, grandchildren, family and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by husband, Charlie; parents, Ernest and Maude Pemberton; sisters, Betty Turvey, Ruth Frische and Jane Pemberton; and brother, Keith Pemberton.
