Joseph Gibson

Joseph Gibson, 79, of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at his residence. The Boldman, Ky., native was born July 8, 1934, the son of the late William B. and Rushia Simpson Gibson. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Conaway Gibson.

Mr. Gibson was retired from the U.S. Army where he served as a SFC in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a former employee for the Laborers Local 1445 in Catlettsburg, Ky., and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Leah Stanhope; and several brothers and sisters.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Daniel (Marie) Gibson, of Defuniak Springs, Fla.; son, David Gibson, of Defuniak Springs; daughter, Wilma Alexander, of Alabama; daughter, Donna Gibson, of Burlingame, Calif.; two stepsons, Gregory (Cathie) Webb and Michael Webb, both of Ironton; son-in-law, Edward Stanhope, of Defuniak Springs; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a special grandson, Brandon (Sarah) Webb, of Ironton; two sisters, Mildred (Joe) Gibson, of Bloomville, and Patsy (Carl) Davis, of Milton, W.Va.; and two brothers.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Woodland Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Donations may be made in Mr. Gibson’s name to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Billy Bragg

Billy Kendall Bragg, 74, of Proctorville, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville by pastor Gordon Simpson. Burial will follow in McCormick Cemetery in Proctorville. Ronald Ward

Ronald Lee Ward, 64, of Proctorville, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was the husband of Barbara Jean Brumfield Ward, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville.

 

 

Phyllis Carpenter

Phyllis A. Carpenter, 65, of South Point, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

 

Raymond Ward

Raymond “Pawpaw” Ward, 84, of South Point, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. at St Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville by pastor Jerry Galloway and Pastor Duane Smith. Christine Ervin

Christine Ervin, 67, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at her home. She was the wife of Isaac (Ike) Ervin, who survives. There will be a private funeral. Burial will be in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery. Condolences can be made on the Facebook page of Brown Funeral Chapel.
