Joseph Gibson

Joseph Gibson, 79, of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at his residence. The Boldman, Ky., native was born July 8, 1934, the son of the late William B. and Rushia Simpson Gibson. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Conaway Gibson.

Mr. Gibson was retired from the U.S. Army where he served as a SFC in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a former employee for the Laborers Local 1445 in Catlettsburg, Ky., and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Leah Stanhope; and several brothers and sisters.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Daniel (Marie) Gibson, of Defuniak Springs, Fla.; son, David Gibson, of Defuniak Springs; daughter, Wilma Alexander, of Alabama; daughter, Donna Gibson, of Burlingame, Calif.; two stepsons, Gregory (Cathie) Webb and Michael Webb, both of Ironton; son-in-law, Edward Stanhope, of Defuniak Springs; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a special grandson, Brandon (Sarah) Webb, of Ironton; two sisters, Mildred (Joe) Gibson, of Bloomville, and Patsy (Carl) Davis, of Milton, W.Va.; and two brothers.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Woodland Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. There will be no public visitation. Billy Kendall Bragg, 74, of Proctorville, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. Ronald Lee Ward, 64, of Proctorville, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was the husband of Barbara Jean Brumfield Ward, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville.
