D-B audit results applauded

As we inch closer to the rush of tax season, the one word any taxpayer does not want to hear is audit. However, this noun is commonplace for Dawson-Bryant local schools treasurer Brad Miller.
When a person files his or her taxes, we hope they are mistake free. The same can be said for these entities too. Last week, the Auditor of State Dave Yost announced the school district had been one of a short list to receive the Auditor of State Award for a clean audit.
This is a significant award, as the school was one of only 18 in the entire state who received this distinction.
This is especially true, when like a business, a school district encompasses a number of moving parts. This includes multiple schools and departments within each school that funnel together at the district level.
This overall process is a wide-ranging scope of requirements that the district must turn over to the auditor for review and meet the obligatory standards.
We applaud the entire Dawson-Bryant school district for reaching this achievement, and special mention to Miller for overseeing all the elements within the audit necessary to realize this goal.
The schools of Lawrence County have had a successful year so far, with many receiving various awards from the state and we applaud all for their efforts.
