SOUTH POINT- The cause of a fire that destroyed Spaulding’s Floor and Wall as well as a nearby home earlier this month is still unknown.

“There are no new developments at this time,” said Michael Duchesne, assistant director of communications for the Ohio Fire Marshal. “It’s still an ongoing investigation and the cause is currently undetermined.”

The blaze occurred in the early morning hours of February 4, in the 7000 block of County Road 1 in South Point, and was first responded to by the Fayette Township Volunteer Fire Department.

“We dispatched two investigators to the scene,” Duchesne said. “That was at the behest of the local first responders.”

Duchesne also says that investigators are seeking any information that local residence may have about the incident.

“We are looking for anyone with information,” he said. “If you have information please call our hotline.”
