Emory Kerns

Emory J. “Jug” Kerns Jr., 70, of Ironton passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 9, 1944, the son of the late Emory O. and Myrtle Boggs Kerns. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Marie Johnson Kerns.

Mr. Kerns attended Pedro schools and was a truck driver for the Triple D Trucking Company. He was a member of the Faith United Church of the Nazarene in Ironton.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Forrest Kerns and John Kerns; a sister, Barbara Hamilton; and granddaughter, Caylee Lynn Kerns.

He is survived by a son, Joshua J. (Robin) Kerns, of Ironton; three daughters, Tina Marie Dodson, of Hanging Rock, Saprinta (Paul) Patrick, of Ironton, and Tammy (Mike) Noble, of Coal Grove; two brothers, Bill Kerns, of Ironton, and Earl Kerns, of Columbus; five sisters, Mary Lou Back, of Coal Grove, Susie V. Moore, of Ironton, Faye Crager, of South Point, Patricia Fraley, of Ironton, and Kay Thornton, of Ironton; three granddaughters, Tommie Patrick, Allison Salyers and Ashley Friend; and one great-grandson, Jayce Albert.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

Ronald Faulkner

Ronald Luther Faulkner, 67, of Coal Grove, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Sept. 18, 1946, the son of the late Luther and Hazel Delawder Faulkner. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Jane Riley.

Mr. Faulkner attended Coal Grove High School and was a self-employed mechanic. He was a member of the Community Tabernacle in Coal Grove. He was a member of the Lawrence County Humane Society and a volunteer at the Hamilton Township Fire Department. He loved fishing, playing with the dogs and grand babies and selling bikes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Collins and Linda Cordle; and a brother, William “Butch” Faulkner.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Anna Denise (Preston) Skaggs, of West Portsmouth, and Hollie Ann Riley, of South Point; a brother, Curtis Faulkner, of Ironton; five grandchildren, Andrea Sexton, Chelsea Sexton, both of Portsmouth, Gabe Skaggs, of West Portsmouth, Jaden Allen Malone and Makaila Lynn Riley, both of South Point; a special brother-in-law, Orville Collins, of Coal Grove; and several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastors Roger Friend and Mark Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Mack Burcham, 79 of Ironton, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at a Jo-lin Nursing Home in Ironton. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home in Ironton.

 

 

Eva D. Lundy

Eva D. Lundy, 82, of South Point, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.
