Larry Lowe

Larry R. Lowe, devoted husband, loving father and esteemed educator, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014. Mr. Lowe was an accomplished and respected teacher. He taught at Ironton High School, Paul G. Blazer High School in Ashland, Ky., as well as Marshall University. During his career of over 40 years, he taught physics, chemistry, biology and astronomy. He always strove to inspire his students to achieve excellence in all facets of their education, and many considered him to be a guiding force in choosing the paths of their own careers.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman and true artist. He enjoyed archaeology, stargazing, landscaping, painting, creating original artwork and just communing with nature. He was also a committed family patriarch, spending much time and taking great care of his wife, children, neighbors and pets.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Sally; and his sons, Robert and Jonathan. Also surviving are his brother, Terry, his wife, Mary, and their daughter, Sophia.

The loss of Larry will be profoundly felt by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, in Ironton. Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. until time of the service on Monday. To offer condolences please visit www.tracybrammerfh.com.

 

 

 

Homer Campbell

Homer L. “Hoss” Campbell Jr., 53, of Ironton, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Jo-Lin Health Center in Ironton. The Ironton native was born Nov. 30, 1960, the son of Homer L. Sr. and Yvonne Maynard Campbell, of Ironton.

Mr. Campbell was a 1979 graduate of Ironton High School, a former computer aided drafting instructor for ACTC and was of the Baptist faith. He was a honorary Kentucky Colonel and loved animals.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Melony L. McClellan.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Homer Lee III and Lisa Campbell, of Cleveland, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Kari Lynn and Joshua Wollard, of Austin, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Dee Campbell, of Ironton; sister Francie Campbell-Vallance, of Ironton; aunt Mary Vaughan, of Ironton; and three grandchildren, Leela Campbell, Ian Wollard and Tanner Wollard.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton with pastor Homer L. Campbell Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Juanita Locey

Juanita Lou Sowards Locey, 82, of Proctorville, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville with pastors Glenn Carmon and Jeff Black officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery.

 

 

 

Michael Galloway

Michael David Galloway, 63, of Huntington, W.Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at home. There will be no services. Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Ray Anthony Hunt, 67, of Huntington, W.Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Arrangements by Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville.

 

 

Hoy McGahan

Hoy Kelly McGahan, 75, of Ironton, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Edgewood Manor in Lucasville. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.

 

 

William Daniels

William C. Daniels, 85, of Ashland, Ky., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky., with burial to follow at Whitt Cemetery at Culp Creek. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
