Tri-State business earns recognition

SOUTH SHORE, Ky. — Jeff and Melissa Holmes, the owners of Mosquito Joe of the Tri-State Area, based out of South Shore, Ky., recently received “The Most MoJo Award” at the Mosquito Joe national convention. This award goes to the franchisee that, “Showed the most passion, positivity and overall enthusiasm.”

Mosquito Joe Corp. is a new franchise based out of Virginia Beach, Va., and it recently made the “Entrepreneur Magazine’s top 500 Franchises for 2014.” Mosquito Joe provides service to families, allowing them the opportunity to enjoy their yards without mosquitoes, fleas and ticks.

The Holmeses just completed their first season, opening in July of 2013, and was only open for 16 weeks. Jeff, a full-time teacher at Portsmouth High School, hired two employees when school resumed in August.

“With the overwhelming response we had in the first season,” Jeff said, “we are looking forward to hiring three to five more local people to help us out with the growth we expect in the upcoming 2014 season. Out of our local office, we service families from Portsmouth to Charleston, W.Va.”
