The honor is the first of Barrett’s career and just the second time that a Shawnee State player has earned this honor since joining the conference four years ago.

Barrett played her high school softball at Green.

Over the past week, Barrett hit .476 with three home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs scored.

Her best day at the plate came in Shawnee State’s doubleheader sweep against St. Catharine at Boone Coleman Field.

In the opening game of that twin bill, Barrett hit just twice but made her at-bats count as she blasted a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one.

Barrett also hit another grand slam in the second game as the Bears won 11-1 in a run-rule shortened victory. The Bears’ senior also hit a home run in SSU’s second game against Pikeville this past Saturday.

Overall, Barrett recorded a hit in five of the Bears’ six contests and also scored a run in five different game this past week. Her 10 hits for the week included the three home runs and two doubles to give her a 1.000 slugging percentage for the week.

Barrett ranks third in the Mid-South Conference with 12 stolen bases and fifth in the conference with 25 RBI this season. She ranks seventh in slugging percentage (.714), home runs (5) and total bases (50) and eighth in batting average (.386).
