PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons made Mindy Clark earn her first win.

Fairland held off a late rally by the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers to win 9-7 and give Clark her first career win.

“It was a good win, but they scared me to death,” said Fairland coach Mindy Clark. “But we’re getting better.”

Ironton took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Breanna Klaiber walked and Aley Carmon doubled.

Fairland took a 2-1ead in the third inning.

Mollie Morris walked, Caitlin Stone put down a bunt and Morris scored on the overthrow. Stone went to second base and scored when Mackenzie Riley reached on an error.

The lead went to 5-1 in the fourth inning.

Tiffani Christian walked, Taylor Roach singled and Morris singled home the runners. Morris stole second and scored on a hit by Stone.

Ironton cut the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the fifth.

Carmon and Ariel Whitt reached on errors for a run and Whitt scored on a wild pitch.

Fairland answered with three in the bottom of the inning.

Maddy Kazee walked, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch. Allison Shepherd walked, stole second and scored on a wild pitch.

Lexie Cain then walked, stole second, went to third on a passed ball and scored on a hit by Roach.

The Lady Dragons final run scored in the sixth on a home run by Kazee — the first of her career.

Ironton raillied in the to score four times.

Klaiber walked, Carmon reached on an error and stole second, an a run scored on a passed ball. Laken White walked, stole second and Whitt singled home two runs.

Saige Fields had a base hit and Desiree Scott doubled for a run.

But Stone came on in relief to get an out and the final out came when a runner was caught trying to advance to another base.

Shepherd went the first 6.1 innings to get the win.

Fairland (1-1) hosts South Point on Monday.
