Commission OKs match for drug task force

The Lawrence County Commission approved a $32,146 match to receive almost $97,000 in funds for the Lawrence Drug and Major Crimes Task Force.
The commission made that decision at its regular Thursday meeting agreeing to appropriate the match to receive $96,438 in Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services funds.
In a meeting that lasted approximately 10 minutes, the commissioners also:
• Approved a resolution to allow the county engineer to participate in the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Cooperative Purchasing Program for salt;
•Approved a contract with Brown County where Lawrence County will provide housing for juvenile offenders at a rate of $85 per bed per day;
• Proclaimed April 17 as Wheelin’ Sportsmen Day and changed its regular meeting date to the preceding Tuesday;
• Received the weekly dog warden report where no dogs were destroyed and 12 were adopted or sent to rescue.
