CHESAPEAKE — Maybe the Chesapeake Lady Panthers should start a program called “No runner left behind.”

Chesapeake stranded 12 runners in a 5-3 loss to the River Valley Lady Raiders Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Conversely, River Valley scored four runs with two outs.

“We didn’t take advantage of our opportunities,” said Lady Panthers coach Aaron Rice.

River Valley took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Chelsea Copley singled, Libby Leach doubled her home and Katie Mares had an RBI single.

The Lady Raiders got a run in the second on a two-out home run by Copley.

Chesapeake got within 3-2 in the fifth.

McKenna Wells singled and Laura Rice had an RBI double. Carrie Brock followed with a run-scoring single.

River Valley got the runs back with two outs in the sixth.

Copley doubled and Ashley Gilmore singled for a run and Leach doubled home the second run.

Chesapeake (2-4, 1-3) scored on a solo home run by Lindsey Davidson.
