Pointers beat Eagles, 9-3

SOUTH POINT — It took awhile for South Point to score, but once they started they had trouble stopping.

The Pointers and Fairview Eagles were scoreless through three innings, but then South Point got seven runs in the fourth and went on to post a 9-3 win Thursday.

Patrick Jones and Logan Wade singled to start the big rally. Tyler Branch doubled home a run and Christian Pritchard singled home two more.

Trey Kearns singled and Alex Whitt tripled home two more runs. Brandon Boggs then singled in the final run.

Fairview (3-9) got two runs in the fifth on a two-run double by Kyle Stormes but the Pointers got a run back in the bottom of the inning.

Brandon Layne and Pritchard singled and an error allowed Layne to score.

South Point got a run in the sixth when Chris Woodard reached on an error, Wade walked, Woodard stole third base and scored on a wild pitch.

Stormes doubled and scored when Tanner Young grounded out for Fairview’s final run in the seventh.

Woodard went 4.1 innings to get the win. Wade went the final 2.2 innings.

Pritchard went 2-3 with two runs batted in to lead a nine-hit attack.
