SOUTH POINT — Hits were at a premium, but not runs.

While the game produced only five total hits, the South Point Pointers blanked the Huntington St. Joe Fighting Irish 8-0 Monday.

South Point had only three hits and needed only one in their eight-run third inning.

Beau Taylor reached on an error to start the uprising. Trey Kearns walked and Alex Whitt singled in the only run the Pointers really needed.

Brandon Boggs walked and Kearns scored on a passed ball. Chris Woodard walked and Patrick Jones both walked to load the bases and Logan Wade reached on an error to score Boggs.

Tyler Branch walked to re-load the bases and Christian Pritchard was safe on an error as two runs scored. Taylor — batting for the second time in the inning — hit into a fielder’s choice to drive in the final run.

Wade — who also had a double — went the distance to get the win. He struck out 10, walked just one and gave the Irish only two singles.

Boggs signed for the Pointers’ other hit.

South Point hosts Fairland Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
