Like A Brickhouse
ROME TOWNSHIP — Offering an array of fitness classes geared toward women of all ages, members of Brickhouse Cardio are seeing results that even The Commodores would be proud of.
“We are really growing,” Angie George, owner and operator of Brickhouse Cardio, said. “I purchased the place in December of last year. It’s really going great. We’re growing. The community has just supported us amazingly.”
The fitness center prides itself on offering classes in a relaxed environment that promotes its members to help one another.
“There is a very personal relationship between staff and the members we have here,” George said. “I’m not a nutritionist and we don’t have any that are technically on staff, but we have a few who come here. They all try and help each other and I think that’s what makes us different from other places.”
Two of the more popular classes at Brickhouse Cardio are Zumba and Zumba Gold classes. Zumba Gold is tailored for older women who are trying to lose weight or stay active and the music and chorography of each class reflects its demographic. Recently, Brickhouse was also approved to accept Silver Sneakers members. Silver Sneakers is a national program designed to get adults over the age of 65 more active.
“We’re really excited about the Silver Sneakers program,” George said. “There is a large population of people who qualify for the program here in the Proctorville area and we are glad to offer them a nearby location. Until we got our approval the closest fitness center that accepted Silver Sneakers members was in the west end of Huntington, W.Va.”
As with any fitness center or workout plan results are what is ultimately important, and George said that the members at Brickhouse are doing well.
“Our ladies are getting great results,” George said. “They’re losing weight, they’re losing inches, and they are getting healthier each and every class.”
