PEDRO — It turns out the Rock Hill Redwomen have zombie bats.

After getting just two hits on Tuesday, the Redwomen collected 11 hits as they beat the River Valley Lady Raiders 13-3 in six innings Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“The bats really came to life and they were patient at the plate and it paid off,” said Rock Hill coach Sam Gue.

Riann Keating was 2-4 and Kaci Russell 2-5 with two runs batted in to lead the Redwomen offense.

Sami Nixon allowed six hits, struck out nine and walked just one to get the win for Rock Hill (11-5, 4-1).

River Valley pitchers combined to walk10 and strike out just two.

Rock Hill took a 4-0 lead in the second dinning.

Brooke Eastham, Jenna Lane and Riann Keating all singled to load the bases. Anna Darby doubled home two runs and, after Jordan Hairston walked, Hannah Roach followed with a two-run single.

The lead went to 7-0 in the third.

Eastham walked, Lane sacrificed her to second and Darby and Hairston walked to load the bases. Kaci Russell then singled in two runs and a passed ball scored a run.

River Valley got its three runs in the top of the fourth.

Ashley Gilmore and Chelsea Copley both singled. River Valley tried two straight bunts and Rock Hill had throwing errors on both plays to allow all the runs to score.

But Rock Hill answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning.

Roach led off with a walk went to third on a pair of passed balls. Eastham walked and courtesy runner Brooklynn Kingery stole second. Lane singled for a run, Keating reached on an error for a run and Hairston had a two-run triple.

Rock Hill ended the game with two runs in the sixth.

Darby walked and scored when Russell reached on a two-out error. Russell stole second and third and came home when Nixon singled.

Rock Hill visits River Valley Thursday in a make-up game.
