AID — When the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings decided to score, they scored.

The Lady Vikings scored 21 runs over just three innings as they won two Southern Ohio Conference games over the Eastern Lady Eagles.

The Lady Vikings scored six and eight runs in separate innings as they rallied to beat Eastern 14-9 in the completion of a game halted earlier by rain.

They had seven runs in the sixth inning that ended the regularly scheduled game 10-0.

Eastern took a 3-0 lead in the first meeting but the Lady Vikings scored six times in the second on five walks, a three-run double by Brenna Morris and RBI singles by Caitlin Carpenter and Kaitlyn Payne.

After the Lady Eagles came back to lead 9-6, the Lady Vikings scored eight in the seventh to win.

Symmes Valley used five more walks, a two-run double by Carpenter and run-scoring singles by Hannah Mays and Sierra Ross in their winning rally.

Carpenter went 4-6 to lead a 10-hit attack. Payne was 2-5.

In the second game, the Lady Vikings led 3-0 after five innings when they erupted for seven runs in the sixth.

Ross and Hatfield singled and Carpenter walked to load the bases in the first inning. Mays then had a two-run single.

A run scored in the fifth when Amber Bryant had a bunt single, was sacrifice to second by Stephanie Brown and scored on Payne’s double.

In the sixth, three walks, a hit batsman, two-run singles each by Hatfield and Ross and three wild pitches produced the seven runs.

Payne pitched a one-hitter in the second game as she allowed only a fifth inning single.

The Lady Vikings play Sciotoville East on Tuesday.
