PORTSMOUTH — The defense disappeared.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings had six errors in an 11-1 five-inning loss to the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

The errors led to six unearned runs. Conversely, Notre Dame did not make an error.

“We just didn’t field the ball and most of the plays were pretty routine. It was just one of those games,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Autumn Keathley generated all the Lady Vikings’ offense with a solo home run in the third inning that made it 1-0.

Notre Dame took a 3-1 in the bottom of the inning and then scored eight times in the fifth.

Symmes Valley (14-7, 11-3) hosts Fairland Friday.
