AID — If Symmes Valley was willing to give Fairland baserunners, the Lady Dragons were more than willing to take them.

The Lady Dragons parlayed seven hits with five walks and four hit batmen to beat the Lady Vikings 7-3 Friday.

“We gave them too many runs,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

Fairland (9-10) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Mollie Morris singled, moved to third on two groundouts and scored on a hit by Allison Shepherd.

The Lady Dragons scored four times in the third inning.

Caitlin Stone was hit by a pitch, Ellen Hinshaw singled and Maddie Kazee was hit by a pitch. Allison Shepherd singled for a run, Olivia Adkins reached on an error to score a run and a throwing error on the play scored two more.

The Lady Vikings (14-8) got a run in the fourth when Stephanie Brown tripled and came home on Hannah Mays’ ground out.

Fairland added two runs in the sixth to lead 7-1.

Christian singled, Morris walked and both moved up on a wild pitch. Stone followed with a single and an outfield error allowed the runs to score.

Brown singled and Hannah Maynard hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-3.

Chandler Fulks got the win as she struck out 11, walked only one and gave up jut four hits.

“It was a good win. We hit the ball well and Chandler pitched well,” said Fairland coach Mindy Clark.

Symmes Valley hosts Rock Hill Monday.
