CHESAPEAKE — The number 13 proved to be lucky for Chesapeake.

The Panthers had 13 hits — all singles — as they beat the Federal Hocking Lancers 10-2 Wednesday in the Division III sectional tournament.

The Chesapeake offense backed the combined three-hit pitching of Blake Lester, Jacob Henson and Joe Bias.

Lester went four innings for the win. He struck out eight, gave up just one hit and did not walk a batter. The trio combined for 15 strikeouts with Henson getting five and Bias two.

Chesapeake (11-14) plays at 11 a.m. Saturday at top-seeded Wheelersburg.

The Panthers got a run in the first when Casey McComas, Lester and Bias all singled to load the bases and Jacob Eddy reached on an error for the run.

The lead went to 3-0 in the third.

Lester walked, Bias singled and they moved up on a ground out. Eddy grounded out to score Lester and Bobby Arthur had an RBI single.

Three more runs scored in the fourth.

McComas singled, Henson walked and Lester singled for a run. Dakota Hutchison singled for a run and an outfield error scored the final run.

Chesapeake went up 8-0 in the fifth.

Kolton Webb got a bunt single and McComas and Henson singled for a run. A double steal scored the second run.

The final two runs scored in the sixth.

Hutchison singled and pinch-runner Wes Stephens scored when Eddy singled and the ball got through the outfield. Arthur caped the rally with a sacrifice fly.

Federal Hocking got its two runs in the sixth when Jade Keifer walked, Devon Maxey doubled and Phillip Hoffman had a two-run double..
