One day before the floats, the bands and the picnics, Lawrence Countians will gather to pay somber tribute at the graves of those who in fact are memorialized on Memorial Day.

The annual Woodland Cemetery service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the soldier’s section of that graveyard.

Master Chief Joseph Benning (Ret.) of the United States Coast Guard will deliver the keynote address. Officers of the areas veterans groups will lay a wreath at the monument to fallen soldiers.
