Leo Hurst

Leo Hurst, 80, of Hamilton, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Bradford Place. He was born in Middlesboro, Ky., on July 1, 1933, the son of the late George and Roxie (Barnett) Hurst. On May 22, 1988, he married Delores “DeeDee” Wilson in Sevierville, Tenn. Leo was a retired mechanic for Liquid Transport and Ford Brothers.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Leo Scott (Judy) Hurst and Tim Hurst; one grandson, Nathan; one great-grandson, Elijah; sister, Robirda (Roland) York; brother-in-law, Gene (Karen) Wilson; and sister-in-law, Susan Sanders. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Dustin; seven brothers, Ed, Cleston, Malcomb, Hobert, Dorton, Doyle and Dean; sister-in-law Barbara White and brother-in-law, Kevin Sanders. Paul Glanville

Paul Edward Glanville, 80, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Ironton native was born March 16, 1934, the son of the late John Cecil and Charlotte Johns Glanville. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thurma Markin Glanville.

Mr. Glanville was a 1952 graduate of Ironton High School and a U.S. Army veteran. He retired in 1992 as an electrician and maintenance foreman for Dow Chemical and was also a former employee of Allied Chemical for 15 years. He was of the Protestant faith, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Ironton Band Boosters and the Elks No. 177.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Jack Glanville; and sister, Ruth Jones.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jay (Samantha) Glanville, of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeff (Kathy) Glanville; of Gahanna; a brother, Robert Glanville, of Ironton; and six grandchildren, Jason Paul Glanville, Jonathan Wells Glanville, Saralyn Elaine Glanville, Charlotte Rose Glanville, Kandace Louise Glanville and Aaron Paul Glanville.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton with minister Phil Lemaster officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Juanita Willis

Juanita Willis, 89, of Ironton, died on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Jo-Linn Health Center. She was the widow of Eugene Willis. She was born Aug. 9, 1924, to the late Earl and Pansy McKee Nance. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and she retired from Lawrence County Hospital.

She is survived by one son, Keith E. Willis, of Columbus; one grandson, Nathan Eric Willis, of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Linda Nance Suiter, of Coal Grove; brother, Rusty Earl (Katherine) Nance, of Coal Grove; two sisters-in-law, Diana Nance, of Coal Grove, and Ruth Yates, of Ironton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Adrian Morgan and Arvella Nance; one brother, Larry Ray Nance; and one grandson, Scott Eugene Willis.

Funeral will be noon Tuesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday until time of the funeral. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

 

 

Hobert Cook

Hobert Lane Cook, 74, of Lavalette, W.Va., died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at home. He is survived by his wife, Herma Artis Cook.

There will be private family services. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville assisted the family with arrangements.

 

 

Clarence Chapman

Clarence Leroy Chapman, 88, of Proctorville, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation in Huntington, W.Va. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Willa Phillips

On Wednesday, May 21, 2014, after a brief illness, Willa Mae “Cookie” Cade Phillips, 70, of Jacksonville, Fla., was called home to be with her Lord. Born Aug. 8, 1943, in Ironton to parents the late William Ellsworth Cade and Mary Dell Jenkins Cade.

Mrs. Phillips was a former waitress and cook at the Buckeye Lake Truck Stop and was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Terry Lee Phillips, of Clintwood, Va.; children, Terry William Cade, of Middleburg ,Fla., Tim Cade, of Aid, Tony Phillips and wife Lori, of Middleburg, Tonya Eades and husband Robbie, of Bristol, Tenn., and Todd Phillips, of Middleburg; grandchildren, Brandon Cade, Destiny Cade and fiancée Shannon Gore, Tiffani Phillips, Tony Phillips Jr., Brittany Pendergrass and husband Jeffery, Sierra Phillips, Cherokee Phillips and Trinity Phillips; great-grandchild, London Cade; brothers, James Cade, Roger Cade, Gerald “Bub” Cade and wife Jane, Charles McCormick and wife JoAnn; sisters, Mary Cremeans and husband James, Julie Cade and husband Don, Penny Knowles and husband David, Peggy Pineda; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

She is predeceased by her father, William Ellsworth Cade, and mother, Mary Dell Jenkins Cade; son, Tracy Phillips; granddaughter, Tiffany Cade; and brothers, Junior Cade, Joseph Cade and Gary Cade and sisters-in-law Beth Cade and Beverly Cade.

Ruby Mae Fuller, 72, of Proctorville, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Ava Lasseter, 6-month-old daughter of Brandon and Bre Lasseter, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, at Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Willis Funeral Home.
