Porter gets trip to state

NEW CONCORD — Jordan Porter has a shot to win the shot put.
The Chesapeake Lady Panthers’ senior finished second in the Division II regional track meet Thursday to earn a trip to the state meet.
Porter heaved the shot put 42-7 to finish just one-half inch behind Laina Snyder of West Holmes and get a trip to the state track meet next week at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.
The top four finishers qualify for the state meet. The remaining events will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday.
The Lady Panthers’ sophomore Atiya Spaulding placed seventh in the high jump at 4-10. Rock Hill’s Brooklyn Massie was ninth at 4-10.
Zach McKinney of Fairland was ninth in the discus with a 143-2 toss.
