Aiden Blanton

Aiden Jace Blanton, 2 years old, of Wheelersburg, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus of complications following a drowning accident. He was born April 26, 2012, in Portsmouth, the son of Natosha Blanton.

He is also survived by his grandparents, Carl and Rhonda Blanton of Oak Hill, Dan and Sara Pennington of South Shore, and John and Trish Osborne; great-grandparents, Donna Arthur of Franklin Furnace, and Clarence Blanton of Oak Hill, and Sam and Rosalee Pennington of Portsmouth; seven aunts, Courtney Blanton, Bethany Blanton, Brianna Blanton, Adrianna Blanton and Brooklyn Blanton, all of Oak Hill, and Betty Osborne and Alexas Osborne, both of Sciotoville; great-uncles, Jeff Blanton of Pedro, and Bob Blanton of Franklin Furnace; great-aunts, Donna Blanton of Portsmouth, and Davina Arthur of Franklin Furnace, and Rachel Barrett of Wheelersburg; and many cousins and friends.

Special people in his life were the Kleinmans, C.J. Collins, Lee Lee Nelson, Gerri Conschafsky, Brooklyn Otworth, J.J. Dennis, Jennings and Ty Howard. Aiden was also preceded in death by his aunt, Brittany Blanton; grandfather, David Arthur; grandmother, Loraine Blanton; and an uncle, Shannon Arthur.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at D.W. Swick Funeral Home, South Webster, with the Rev. David Frazie officiating. Interment will follow at Jackson Furnace Cemetery. Elbert Lewis

Elbert Junior “Pun” Lewis, 43, of Pedro, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born July 12, 1970, a son of Gerald “Big Pun” Lewis, of Pedro, and the late Juanita Carman Lewis.

Pun attended Rock Hill Schools. He worked in the Timber Industry and was a jack of all trades.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald “Bub” Lewis Jr.

Pun is survived by, in addition to his father, daughter, Jessica Lewis, of Coal Grove; daughter, Samantha Lewis of Ironton; a grandson, Camron; sister, Nancy (Gary) Leadingham of Ironton; sister, Ruth (Danny Sparks) Lewis of Decatur; sister, Angie (Tom) Malone of Ironton; fiancée, Becky Rucker of Pedro; and her children, Christian and Dee’Nisha

Roger Whitehead

Roger Whitehead, 86, of Wurtland, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 29, 2014, in the Kingsbrook Lifecare Center in Ashland, Ky.

Mr. Whitehead was born March 9, 1928, in Sueter, a son of the late Homer K. and Eva Smith Whitehead. He was also preceded in death by one son, Keith Whitehead.

He worked for the CSX Railroad for 40 years and retired as a machine operator.

Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy Harmon Whitehead; three daughters, Alice (Joe) Beardsley and Geneva Whitehead both of Wurtland, Ky., and Joetta (Tom) Reed of Lloyd, Ky.; one son, Roger Lee (Judy) Whitehead of Grayson, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation for family and friends was 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. today at the funeral home by the Rev. Danny Brown. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery in Wilgus.

Darrell Clark

Darrell Birchard Clark, 50, of Chesapeake, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by Pastor Randy Henderson. Goldie Mae Branch, 99, of Palm Bay, died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Overbrook Rehabilitation Center, Middleport. Wealtha Blankenship

Wealtha Mae Blankenship, 73, of Huntington, W.Va., died Thursday, May 29, 2014, at a local health care facility. A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. Phillips Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
