The 10th and Vine Church of Christ in Ironton is now taking applications for its 2014-2015 mini-school program.

Beginning in September and following the schedule of Ironton City Schools, the free program is for 3, 4 and 5-year-olds from 9:30-1:30 p.m. on Fridays.

“We can take up to 16 kids and we have eight spots open,” Christie Mollineaux, program director, said. “Kids are accepted on a first-come first-served basis.”

Mollineaux, who attended the same mini-school when she was a child, said the program stopped operating in 2000 after nearly three decades and she made it her goal to see it get re-started.

“I told myself that if I ever became a stay-at-home mom I would start the school back,” she said. “Last year I was able to do that.”

She said her goal is to expand to more than one day a week, but admits she doesn’t have the personnel to do that yet.

Donations of many types are accepted but not required. Call 740-534-3437 or email to request an application.
