Kathie Malone

Kathie S. Malone, 53, of Waterloo, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 31, 1960, a daughter of the late Ralph Malone and Betty Hieronimus Day.

Kathie was a graduate of Ironton High School and a member of the Cannons Creek E.U.B. Church in Waterloo. Farming and family were the loves of her life.

She is survived by son, Joshua Griffith, of Siler City, N.C.; daughter, Sarah Bristow, of Liberty, N.C.; son, Caleb Griffith, of Bear Creek, N.C.; daughter, Markie Moore, of Ironton; grandson, Landon Griffith; granddaughter, Amara McWhorter; granddaughter, Azalynn Griffith; granddaughter, Corrin Bristow; grandson, Edan Bristow; granddaughter, Zerah Griffith; granddaughter, Gabriella Griffith; grandson, Rowan Bristow; granddaughter, Aevyx Barnette; granddaughter, Isabella Griffith; grandson, Skyler Cunningham; grandbaby No. 12 due Feb. 10; sisters, Tony Cellura and Melissa Malone; brothers, Terry, Joseph, Larry and Michael Malone; and extended family and special friends, Pattie Rowe and Brian Stapleton.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Knipp officiating. Burial will follow in Malone Family Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Donations to help with funeral expenses may be made to Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, OH 45638. Eddie Ward

Eddie L. Ward, 65, of Evansville, Ind., passed away at Hospice Community Center in Ashland, Ky., on June 5, 2014, with his mother, sister and brother-in-law by his side. He was born to Louis and Fumiko Ward, June 4, 1949, in Matsuyama, Japan.

Eddie graduated from South Point High School in 1967 and graduated from United Electronic Institute in Louisville, Ky., in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972 and earned the rank of sergeant. Eddie was an active member of The Turning Pointe Church in Evansville where he played bass guitar in the church band.

Eddie is survived his mother, Fumiko Ward, of South Point; a sister, Miki Crawford, of South Point; four children, Missy Ammerman, of Lexington Ky.; Erik Ward, of Indianapolis, Ind.; Erin Ward, of Atlanta, Ga.; and Colin Ward, of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one step-daughter, Heather Roy, of Olney, Ill. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Isaac Ammerman, Bayne Roy and Braxton Roy.

A private memory service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Hospice. Eddie’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the Hospice Community Center for their kindness and professional care. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville assisted the family with arrangements.

 

 

Desetta Lawson

Desetta “Dee Dee” Lawson, 53, of Lexington, Ky., died Saturday, June 7, 2014. The funeral will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday at North Lexington Church of Christ in Lexington. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Milward Funeral Home-Southland Drive in Lexington. Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky., is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to contribute toward funeral expenses at Bailey Family Funeral Home.
