Ralph Henry

Ralph F. “Turkey” Henry, 71, of Flatwoods, Ky., formerly of Ironton, died peacefully Friday morning, June 13, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center following an extended illness. Ralph was the only child of Lester and Beula Fields Henry, who preceded him in death.

Ralph was a 1960 graduate of Ironton High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and his master’s degree from Morehead State University. He was employed by the Russell Independent School System as a middle school social studies teacher until his retirement. In addition to his love of teaching, Ralph enjoyed golf, Keeneland, Ohio State sports and spending time with his dog and cats. He was a member of the Ironton Elks BPOE No. 177 and served honorably in the Ohio National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sharon Blankenship Henry. He also has a daughter from a previous marriage, Lori Ann Henry.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home and the service is 1 p.m. today with pastor Carson Fannin Jr. officiating. Mona Boyd

Sept. 10, 1966 — June 13, 2014

Mona Lisa Cooper Boyd, 47, of Ironton, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center Ironton Campus. The Ironton native was born Sept. 10, 1966, a daughter of Kenneth Cooper, of Ironton, and the late Fern Louise Jones Cooper.

Mona attended Dawson-Bryant and was a homemaker. She enjoyed life and taking care of her family.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of 30 years, Paul Boyd, of Ironton; two daughters, Emma Boyd, of Ironton, and Lisa (Aaron) Menken, of Ashland, Ky.; three grandchildren, Selena Boyd, of Ironton, Brooklyn Menken and Michael Menken, both of Ashland, Ky.; seven brothers, Chuck Jones, of Ironton, Bob Jones, of Texas, Kenneth Cooper, of Ironton, Eddie Cooper, of Ironton, Brian Cooper, of Ironton, Eric Cooper, of Boyd County, Ky., and Tony Cooper of Lakeland, Fla.; three sisters, Bonnie Friend, of California, Diane Petty, of Ironton, and Becky Friend, of Ironton; and several nieces and nephews.

Chloe Kelly

May 16, 1935 — June 13, 2014

Chloe Rosemond Kimble Kelly, 79, of Ironton, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, at her residence. The Pedro native was born May 16, 1935, a daughter of the late Delbert and Mary Alice Kelly Kimble.

Mrs. Kelly was a graduate of Kitts Hill High School and a member of Woodland Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loved to sew and do crafts.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Kelly; two brothers, Howard Raymond Kimble and David Roy Kimble; two sisters, Sylvia Lee (Kimble) Crisp and Dorothy Kay (Kimble) (Harris) Laughlin; and an infant son.

She is survived by a sister, Verna Elizabeth Morman, of Ashland, Ky.; special nephew, Fred Crisp, of Greenup, Ky.; and several other nieces and nephews

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton with brother Dave Schug and brother Jimmy Kimble officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Robert D. Estep, 86, of Proctorville, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Arnold Horn Sr.

Nov. 14, 1939 — June 13, 2014

Arnold Horn Sr., 74, of Ironton, died Friday, June 13, 2014. He was born Nov. 14, 1939, to the late Harry Elwood and Geneva Lucille Conley Horn. He was the husband of Joretta J. Holley Horn for 54 years. He was a journeyman bricklayer and a member of the Brick Layers Union No. 7 of Ashland, Ky. He was a member of the Nazarene Faith United Church of Elm Street. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Donald Horn and Robert E. Horn. He is survived by his wife, Joretta; and two sons Arnold Horn Jr. (Anessa), of Ironton, and Gary Paul Horn, of Kingsport, Tenn.; one daughter, Kristi Hankins, of Ironton; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Lee Horn, of St George, Utah, James Horn, of Clermont, Fla., Dan Horn, of Orlando, Fla., and Tim Horn, of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. Funeral will be 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Beverly Sharp and Jean Ratliff officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

William M. Brewer, 69, of Chesapeake, died Friday, June 13, 2014. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rome Cemetery in Proctorville. Burial will follow.
