Gene McFann
Feb. 9, 1926 — June 20, 2014
Curtis Eugene “Gene” McFann, 88, of Pedro, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, at his daughter’s residence. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 9, 1926, son of the late William D. and Madie Russell McFann. He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Glenda Markel McFann, who passed away April 4, 2000.
Mr. McFann attended Decatur-Washington Schools and was a laborer for the Dayton Malleable, retiring in 1984. He was a World War II Army veteran serving with Company B 329th Infantry Division in Rhineland and Central Europe. Gene loved gardening, hunting, digging roots and spending time with his family. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Pedro.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Kelli McFann; a son, Tony McFann; five brothers, Jack McFann, Earl McFann, Fred “Ted” McFann, Hurley McFann and Denver McFann; four sisters, Mabel Dillon, Shirley Scaggs, Myrtle Delawder and Dorothy McFann; two grandsons, Eric Sharp and Joseph McFann; a great-grandson, Charles McFann; a daughter-in-law, Betsy McFann; and a son-in-law, Danny Sharp.
He is survived by five sons and two daughters-in-law, Roger McFann, of Benbrook, Texas, Rick McFann, of Jackson, Kim McFann, Bill and Jeanette McFann, and Joey and Karen McFann, all of Pedro; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan Sharp, and Maida and Fred Blagg, all of Pedro; 15 grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Boone, of Ft. Myers, Fla., Tracy and Andrew Mulch, of Virginia Beach, Va., Roger Craig and Danielle McFann, of Virginia Beach, Va., Mark and Bethany McFann, of Pedro, Brad and Tara McFann, of Pedro, Brian McFann, of Middletown, R.I., Billy and Keri McFann, of Pedro, Jill and Jeff Mills, of Ashland, Joshua McFann, of Pedro, Trevor McFann, of Ironton, Daniel and Chassidy Sharp, of Kitts Hill, Michael and Melissa Blagg, of Pedro, Kevin and Robin Blagg, of Pedro, Brett McFann, of Maumee, and Leah McFann, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 28 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy McFann and the Rev. Ronnie Blagg officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Military rites will be conducted by VFW. Post 8850 in Ironton.Pallbearers will be his grandsons Trevor McFann, Joshua McFann, Michael Blagg, Kevin Blagg, Mark McFann, Brad McFann, Daniel Sharp and Isaiah McFann. Kelly Craft
Kelly Dawn Craft, 50, of South Point, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 20, 2014. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Patrick; her children, Chassidy Craft Dickson and Travis Craft; seven grandchildren, Mariah, Brandon, Kaidyn, Bryant, Hayden, Caleb and Riley; her parents, Fred and Annie McClure; her sisters, Terri (Greg) Brooks, Kathy (Mark) Sammons, Cheyenne (Tim) Meadows; and her brother Eddie (Susan) McClure. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon LaDawn Craft.
Kelly was a special person in all our lives. She will be missed greatly by all. “We love you Kelly.” Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point, with pastor Mike Dement officiating. John Perdue
John Frederick Perdue, 68, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. He is survived by his wife, Gail (Gaynelle) Maynard Perdue.
