Citizens should have choice

After reading Lisa Huff’s article, I agree with her about the change which would allow the mayor of Ironton to run for more than two terms.

We have a hands-on mayor. He is in his office every day or out of town for Ironton business. Do you really think we would have the new bridge? At the ribbon cutting, they said, “You have this because of Mayor Blankenship. He wouldn’t go away.”

The water tower, stop lights, sewers, riverfront and numerous grants. How many mayors go down a manhole to check things out?

We have a mayor for the people, not politics. There are seven councilmen and three of the seven made the decision for the citizens of Ironton not to put it on the ballot for the change in the charter. I don’t think three councilmen should make the decision for the citizens of Ironton.

I think the citizens of Ironton are intelligent enough to make their own decisions, not three councilmen.

Speak up citizens. This is your town.
