Joseph Southers

Joseph “Joe” Alan Southers, 45, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away July 17, 2014. Joe was kind, soft-spoken, caring, generous, loyal and courageous. Joe graduated from Ironton High School in 1987 and joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served until 1998 as an Avionics Technician. He was stationed at Hurlburt Field, Fla., Clark Air Base, Philippines, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, and Kelly Air Force Base, Texas.

He worked at Airborne Express in Ohio then moved to San Antonio to work at Dee Howard. After a short stint there, he began a long career at Boeing. Joe worked at Corpus Christi Army Depot, Laughlin Air Force Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. All throughout his career, he was blessed to have met great friends with whom he kept in touch over the years.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Southers; stepfather, Carl Browning; stepmother, Betty Joe Southers; and sister, Rebecca Hunter. Survivors include his mother, Victoria Browning; brother, Steven Southers; sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and William Houston; brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Kazuko Southers; and extended family member, Linda McComas.

Joe so loved and was very proud of his nieces and nephews, Amy Chesney, Alexander and Abigail Hunter, Billy and Emily Houston and Jasmine and Jason Southers. Joe’s best buddy, his Labrador Blue, is residing with Bill and Jenny.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. today at 575th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (Provisional) Pavilion, Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas. Donations may be made in his memory to the Scleroderma Research Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923.

 

 

Carrie Lovelace

Carrie Lovelace, 62, of South Point, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Aid Cemetery with the Rev. Roy Roach officiating.

Carrie was born July 31, 1951 in West Hamlin, W.Va., a daughter of the late Dustin and Erma Midkiff Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Coburn. Carrie is survived by two children, Dustin and Ashleigh Lovelace; four sisters, Arleda Fraley, Eleanor McCarty, Connie McCarty and Karen Littlejohn and two brothers, Ronnie Franklin and David Franklin.

Roger Callicoat

Roger Lee Callicoat, 59, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Abbyshire Place, Bidwell. A private family service was held. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
