SOUTH POINT — A resident of River’s Bend Health Care last week donated 11 inches of hair to the Locks of Love organization.

Elizabeth Froelich said she grew her hair out during the past couple of years after becoming completely bald from chemotherapy treatments.

“It came back really thick and curly and grew very fast,” Froelich said. “Also, it was brown, when before I was red-headed.”

Froelich said she prefers a short hairstyle.

“It’s cooler and easier to take care of when it’s short,” she said.

Froelich told beautician Amanda Brown she wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides hair pieces to disadvantaged children suffering from medical hair loss.

“I hope it can help somebody,” she said. Brown assured her that the ponytail of thick, curly hair will make someone very happy.
