Flags tribute needed

Starting today, Lawrence County residents will get an opportunity to pay tribute to those who have sacrificed in the line of duty when the Flags of Honor opens.
All too often we think about the brave men and women who serve our country but not in a visual way such as this or have the outlet to collectively meet in this type of setting.
In addition to serving as a way to pay tribute to those men and women, families and visitors are afforded the opportunity to pay special remembrance to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
A new facet will be introduced this year that pays tribute to local law enforcement and first responders.
The traveling memorial also allows families to meet and have fellowship with other families who have faced or are facing similar circumstances.
This will not only benefit residents of Lawrence County, but the memorial will provide an outlet for surrounding areas as well.
We encourage all Tri-State residents to plan a visit to the memorial, which will be set up though Sunday.
These types of events provide a lasting reminder of the men and women who serve our county and country.
